The National, Belfast
The National’ is housed in a beautiful, listed Victorian building located in the heart of Belfast City. The space offers a destination for locals and visitors to meet, eat, drink and relax. It provides a spacious dining experience with simple, bold food, great cocktails, music and DJ’s.
Our approach to the interior was to create an atmosphere that allows people to seamlessly transition from afternoon lunch into an evening of socialising with ease. With a love for the existing industrial fabric of the interior, architectural honesty played a huge part in our attitude to designing this venue. Great ceiling height, fantastic brickwork and raw concrete were celebrated and exposed.
The new palette is an evolution of the old scheme with a slightly more sophisticated, warm touch. With lots of high level planting, live projections to create a bit of movement and action, and a wrap-around of warm timber and velvet banquette softens the overall visitor experience to form a cosy, welcoming and atmospheric destination.
